So, here is a quilting video for you! I didn't smile once, but really it was just because of nerves! I hope this is helpful as you make your feather circles! Let me know what you think!

Okay- I used a blue water pen on this customer quilt. I haven't had any trouble with the pens, I have always been able to get the blue pen out, even if I have had to spray twice and rub it with a clean cloth....

Show and Tell! Pumpkin Table Runner!

So, here you go! My pumpkin table runner, just in time for Halloween, even Thanksgiving, I hope you enjoy making this as much as I did!


Fabric Requirements!

Two different ORANGE fabrics (for pumpkins): 1/3 yard each
Cream with polka dot (background fabric): 1/4 yard
Light green (pumpkin stem): 1/8 yard
Dark green (Sash and 1st border): 1/4 yard
Brown pumpkin print (2nd border): 1/2 yard

Swirl Quilting Video!

You can quilt your table runner however you would like, but this is how I quilted mine. If you don't have a long-arm, just stitch in the ditch, stipple on your sewing machine or have someone quilt it for you!

Machine Binding! My version.

Okay, this is the way I sew my binding, keep in mind it may be different from how you do your binding, but it works for me and it's fast. You are always welcome to do your own version of binding, I am just trying to share what I know!


Cut out four 2 1/2 x 44 inch strips and sew the strips end to end.


Fold down 1/4 inch on one end of the strip and press down.

Time for a Tutorial: Bow-Tie Style.

Choose two colors for your bow tie quilt block. One square of each color will make two finished blocks. We are going to make a 4 1/2 inch bow tie block.

Step 1: Cut out a 5 1/2 inch square of each color.
Step 2: Draw an X from corner to corner on the wrong side of one color of the squares.

Perfect little book bag.

1. Cut out four 4 x 44 inch varying fabric strips.
2. Sew the strips together and press the seams.
3. Cut the strips in half, each half will be about 21-22 inches, then fold those in half with fabric right sides together.
4. Sew the sides together on one bag side at 3/8 inches, this is the outside.
5. Sew the other bag sides together at 5/8 inches, this is the inside.

Quilting is so much easier.....

if you use spray starch! I love it. I have become addicted to starching my quilt blocks and it is so great because the fabric lays flat and it does not stretch. Do yourself a favor and pick up some regular laundry starch and make a quilt. You will be amazed at the difference.

Flat Seams

At the seam intersection unpick the three small stitches on both sides.
Open the seam, it will look like a four-patch, then press the seam down.
You can do this with all your seam intersections that match up to four squares or triangles.
Finished product. Your seams will lie flat and that makes for easier quilting.
